Photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol has finally been discharged from jail on bail. He was free from dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj around eleven pm on Friday.
His lawyer confirmed the matter through a Facebook post.
At the jail gate his members of the family and relatives were present at that time.
Journalist Kajol’s son Manoram Palak said, he reached home with his father around 12. pm.
Last december 16, Justice M. Inayetur Rahim and Justice. Mostafizur Rahman’s virtual high court bench granted bail to Kajal in two cases, paving the approach for his release. Earlier, a similar bench of the high court granted bail to Kajal on last 24th November in another case filed in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
It may be mentioned that, when a report was printed on those involved in Narsingdi Juba Mahila League leader (later expelled) Shamima Nur Papia’s hotel Westin-centric business Saifuzzaman Shikhor filed a case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station on March 9 against thirty two individuals including Matiur Rahman Chowdhury(Chief Secretary of Manabjamin).
Photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajal was conjointly accused within the case. Besides, two more cases under the Digital Security Act were filed against journalist Kajal at Hazaribagh and Kamrangirchar Char police stations on March ten and eleven.
Kajal was arrested by the BGB on may 2 from the Benapole border in Jessore when being missing for almost two months. Kajal, who has been in jail for about eight months since his arrest, has been denied bail a total of thirteen times.
