A Nepali citizen has been arrested from Shahparan area of Sylhet. Police sent him to jail through the court on Friday.
It is revealed that the man was arrested by the army from the Cantonment area of Sylhet on Thursday. The army handed him over to Shahparan Police Station at around 8 pm that day.
During the police interrogation, he said that his name is Surye Tamang. His father Santa Tamang and his mother’s name is Krishna Tamang. He is a resident of Java district of Sombari police station in Nepal.
Police further said that his behavior during the interrogation appeared suspicious. He knows Hindi, a little Nepali mixed language and can spell his name vaguely in Nepali.
No valid passport-visa or other documents were found from him.
Which way to the border, through whom or for what specific reason he has entered Bangladesh, the matter will be known in the course of investigation.
In this regard, a case has been filed in Shahparan (Rah 🙂 Police Station under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946.
The OC of Shahparan Police Station Abdul Qayyum said, the army arrested the man and handed him over to us around 8pm on Friday.
How the man entered Bangladesh even though Bangladesh does not have a border with Nepal? in a reply of this question the OC said, “Maybe he entered through the border of a neighboring country.” However, he said that everything is under investigation.
