Harmful Effects of Fast Food and Precautions

We all have to eat to survive. Sometimes we eat fast food as snack or without any occasion. Different types of junk or fast food that is easily available is emerging as a terrible threat to our health day by day. 

Let’s think about the deleterious aspects of this junk food on our own health.

If we look back a little, we can see that even before the nineteenth century, almost all of our food was made indoors. The raw materials were cultivated by hand and later processed at home. As a result, all the natural elements were preserved in those foods. But now days, the availability of junk food on road sides is becoming a serious threat to our health day by day.

As consequences of eating junk food regularly, people are becoming obese and suffering from various diseases. So at least thinking about your own health, but knowing about these harmful aspects, it is necessary to stay away from these foods as much as possible.

What is fast food?

Fast food refers to food that can be prepared and served quickly. It can come from many places: sit-down restaurants, counter service, take-out, drive-thru, and delivery.

Fast food is a combination of various harmful substances that can cause severe damage to the body and even death. These foods are always harmful to the body.

These foods contain excess levels of fat, salt and carbonate. These harmful substances cause damage to the body in many ways. So these foods should be avoided as much as possible.

What are the harmful substances of fast food? 

Fast food contains various unhealthy food ingredients which are extremely harmful for our body. These are discussed below:

  • Hidden sugar:

Despite the use of artificially prepared sugars in many junk or fast foods, these ingredients are not usually presented as sugars. But these elements are converted into sugar during food metabolism. These ingredients, such as corn syrup, fructose or sucrose, contribute to weight gain by increasing the amount of calories in food.

  • Artificial or Alternative Sugar:

The use of artificial sugar in many fast foods increases the amount of sugar in the body more than normal. Studies have shown that sucrose, acisalpheme, potassium and saccharin are used as substitutes for sugar, which are low in calories but severely impair metabolism.

  • Hydrogenate oil:

Fast food restaurants frequently use hydrogenated oils to make food. This hydrogenated oil increases the risk of heart disease by raising the level of cholesterol in the body and causes other health problems. Commercially packaged foods especially chips and crackers are made of hydrogenated oil.

So you have to give up these foods. It is especially important to refrain from giving these unhealthy foods to children.

Threatening consequences of fast food: 

  • Decrease immunity and increase risk of various diseases:

Eating fast food or junk food is more likely to get any disease. Since these foods are sold more on the side of the road and have been tried to preserve for a long time, they are more likely to spread germs. These mixed germs can enter the body and cause various diseases.

In addition, these foods also damage the body’s immune system. Therefore, it is wise to refrain from eating various junk foods on the side of the road.

  • Increase in various skin problems: 

Fast food is basically stale food.  Consuming this food can cause various skin problems such as loss of skin freshness. Eating fatty foods makes the mouth dry and rough. Other skin problems include acne, allergies, etc.

  • Increase body weight and  increase the risk of high blood pressure or diabetes:

According to a report by the World Health Organization, the rate of obesity has increased almost tenfold in the last 40 years. In addition to this, many problems like high blood pressure or diabetes have increased.

The number of obese people for eating junk food is constantly increasing. Excessive consumption of junk food increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and obesity. The trend of getting fat has increased all over the world just because of eating fast food. Consumption of these food increases the amount of sugar in the blood.

Frequent fluctuations in sugar levels lead to a decrease in the function of the pancreas and a gradual decrease in the secretion of insulin.

As a result, it increases type -2, diabetes, the risk of heart disease, painful neurological damage, kidney damage, and Alzheimer.

According to a report by the Institute for Health Matrix and Evaluation, about 17 percent of adults in Bangladesh and 4 percent of children are obese.

Fast foods are high in carbohydrates and fats, which can lead to many problems in the body, especially fat. Excess fat accumulates in the body. Weight gain causes the body to lose its naturalness.

There is no one to argue about it that, junk food is harmful to us, but we should be interested in eating healthy food even if we think for ourselves. No matter how dieting or exercising, there are many obstacles to losing weight by eating these foods. So let’s change our perspective a little bit. Try to eat healthy home-made food as much as possible.
